“Think of a little child that is given a taste for drugs. As the drugs penetrate the body of the child,it becomes addicted; its whole being cries out for the drug. To be without thedrug is so unbearable a torment that it seems preferable to die.

I’m going to quote a great man here, a man named A. S. Neill. He is the author of Summerhill. Neill says that the sign of a sick child is that he is always hovering around his parents; he is interested in persons. The healthy child has no interest in persons, he is interested in things. When a child is sure of his mother’s love, he forgets his mother; he goes out to explore the world; he is curious.

Think of that image - the body has gotten addicted to the drug. Now this is exactly what your society did to you when you were born. You were not allowed to enjoy the solid,nutritious food of life namely, work, play, fun, laughter, the company of people, the pleasures of the senses and the mind. You were given a taste for the drug called approval, approval, attention, success, making it to the top,prestige, getting your name in the paper, power, being the boss.

So you became cravenly dependent on others and you lost your freedom. Others now have the power to make you happy or miserable. You crave your drugs. When you are in this state of dependency, you always have to be on your best behavior, you can never let your hair down; you’ve got to live up to expectations. To be with people is to live in tension. To be without them brings the agony of loneliness, because you miss them.

Now you’re defining yourselfin terms of the feeling. That’s your illusion; that’s your mistake. Yourdepressions and your thrills have nothing to do with happiness. The way toreally live is to die. The passport to living is to imagine yourself in yourgrave. Imagine you’re lying in your coffin. Now look at your problems from thatviewpoint. Changes everything, doesn’t it? Everything passes, everything.

If you wish to see, you must learn to give up your drug. It’s as simple as that. Give up your dependency. Tear away the tentacles of society that have enveloped and suffocated your being. You must drop them.

A nice definition of an awakened person: a person who no longer marches to the drums of society, a person who dances to the tune of that springs up from within.

You need awareness and you need nourishment. You need good, healthy nourishment. Learn to enjoy the solid food of life. Good food,good wine, good water. Taste them. Lose your mind and come to your senses.That’s good, healthy nourishment. The pleasures of the senses and the pleasures of the mind-good reading, when you enjoy a good book or a really good discussion, or thinking. It’s marvelous.

If you really enjoy life and the simple pleasures of the senses, you’d be amazed Slow down and taste and smell and hear, and let your senses come alive.”

My takeaway for today. Yes, God has the power to show you who’s God.

I just watched Diary of a Mad Black Woman and the movie has a lot of wonderful points (though it made my heart break a lot) —and I guess it is worth sharing. The characters portrayed the essence of marriage, waiting, forgiveness and letting go. It showed me that when life goes down, there’s no way to go but up. It reaffirms that God is fair and he is just.

But this thought bubble would like to pound on this point: “People put on their rings while saying their vows. The saddest part about it is when most people promise for better or worse, they really only mean for the better.”

God made marriage for life and as His children, it is just appropriate that we pray for our relationships, wait for the best and work on it. Found this friendly reminder from Tumblr and I believe it’s the troof:

Let us be reminded that God loves us so much that He paid a premium price for us. We groped our way through that murk once, but no longer because now, we live as people of light. He redeemed us from darkness and brought us to His kingdom because we are “chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that we may declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

Women, may we never settle for mediocrity because you are the King of all Kings’ daughter. You are God’s child. You are beloved and you deserve to be blessed by a man who will love you, respect you, pray for you and treat you like a princess. God is your everything and He has secured your value.

May you never, ever be in a hurry to settle for less than God’s best. Just wait. Your breakthrough is coming. Your moment will come, and when it does, it will be awesome and jaw-dropping :)

My takeaway last night. Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.

My brother and I had another movie night and it’s so funny because I found ourselves crying at the same scene, jumping on bed because of the thrill and exclaiming “Wow, that is serious motivation” at the end of the movie.

Russel Crowe played the role of James J. Braddock, a rising star in the light heavyweight boxing ring during the late 1920s. After losing his personal fortune, Braddock struggles to provide for his wife (Renee Zellweger) and children while never fully giving up his dream of returning to boxing.

Crowe is a very effective actor. He’s just wonderful. From ‘A Beautiful Mind’ to ‘Gladiator’, he never failed to impress us on how he portrays his characters. As for Mr. James Braddock a.k.a. Cinderella Man of The Great Depression, I must say that his endurance, courage, motivation & patience is unbelievable. My heart raced as Braddock battled in the ring-not for glory nor fame but for milk, for his family, for his life. May pinaghuhugutan ang bawat suntok.

I completely dug Matt Noris’ review in Cinemablend and I quote: “The Braddock fights are for folks who grew up with Rocky but now require realistic boxing and not to mention better acting in their films. The film’s stunning cinematography draws you into the ring, and leaves you feeling like you’re sitting there in person.”

Epic-eye-opener movie.

My takeaway for today. My little brother and I just watched Akeelah and the Bee (2006) and I must say that Keke Palmer was astounding. She did great in spelling those high-polluting words in allegrisimo. It was so intense that I needed my Little Oxford Dictionary. Hahaha. We felt nostalgic. Oh, how we miss middle school.

This quote is from Marianne Williamson. Dr. Larabee (Laurence Fishburne) asked Akeelah (Keke Palmer) to read it out aloud. It was also recited in Coach Carter (2005) by one of the student basketball players.

I AM NOT PERFECT.

I have several flaws, maybe a hundred or more. I made my parents disappointed and yes I made them cry a lot because of my impatient heart and arrogant head. I shunned away people who cared for me. My wicked tongue shot innocent hearts for my selfish desires.

These are my weaknesses and I do acknowledge them. But despite of my imperfections, I rejoice because God says in my weaknesses He is strong, merciful and powerful.

His victory is real in me when weaknesses fill my life.

I loved you at your darkest. -Romans 5:8

Israel Houghton said, storming season is good because it makes us realize who we are and what we have. We acknowledge that we know that we don’t know but we claim that one thing’s for sure—His grace is sufficient, a never-ending stream and doesn’t run out.

God does not call anyone to compromise. You are better than that. You don’t have to settle for crumbs. He has prepared a feast for you. Never settle for less than God’s best.

“He’s out there standing between the unicorn and the leprechaun and he’s gonna sweep me of my feet. EEEEENGGGGGG. If you think that Knight in Shining Armor Syndrome (KISAS) is the troof and happily ever after exists, think again.”

I just listened to New Spring Church’s Adam & Eve/Eve & Adam Series and I loved it. I believe that every single man/woman, married couples and partners must listen to Pastor Perry Noble’s sermon on relationship, dating and marriage as he reminded us of that KISA Syndrome vs. God’s standards.

Nuggets of my takeaway from the series:

-It is only in God that we find pleasures forevermore. No relationship can fill that desire. God defines happily ever after and we will not find it apart from Him.

-Never surrender your heart to a man who’s not pursuing Jesus on a constant basis. You will become an object to him, not a person.

-There is purpose in the wait. To refuse to settle is tough. But the season of waiting is meant to drive us to Him and the wait is meant to grow our relationship with Him.

-Fix your eyes on the real prize. Progress with love and dedicate yourself to His purpose.

-We compromise our relationship with God when we don’t trust Him.

-Desperation in dating always leads to destruction.

-If he respects you, he will lead you away from the bedroom and not to it. Men must fight for your purity and his. Men, do not be a crumb.

-To be the best possible helper for a man, fix your eyes on Jesus and walk with him, every single day.

-God is pursuing your heart not because of your goodness, but because of His goodness.

-Stop looking for the right one and start becoming the right one by fixing your eyes on the cross and walking with Him everyday.

-Marriage is a magnifier.

-You have a God in Heaven who is fighting for your heart. God is a good God that wants the best for you.

I don’t know about you but I graduated from that KISAS thing when I realized my worth in Jesus. I don’t know about you but my knight doesn’t wear shining breast plates, flaunting a sharp sword and smiling with gleaming white teeth. I don’t know about you but I don’t care how big his bible is or if he owns a Toblerone factory and a flower shop.

Rather, my knight is a fighter and he’s in the field leading his fellowmen. He is a soldier of faith—strong, brave and more than willing to fight for me. He acts on the Word and prays hard and long because these are his indispensable weapon.

He’s more than aware that it’s no walk in the park and there will be blood and wounds. Yet, he rejoices in tests and tribulations because he has a Healer and a True Refiner. He toils with patience because he’s expecting a shower of blessings and that God is preparing our field.

But above all else, he pursues Jesus because he knows he’s complete only in Him and God is the only glue that will hold us together—in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow.

God has promised me that in His perfect timing, he will come—not a minute late, not a minute early. And I am excited :}
